One great way to think about synthesis is the following:
A + B = C
Instead of comparing A and B, we are combining them together to make something brand new: C!
Today you each received two strange objects from the mystery bag and had to combine the objects together to create a story that is dependent on both of them--a new C! I loved hearing your stories!
For tonight, be sure to share in the comments below an example of SYNTHESIS in the natural world or in your daily life.
Peace!
Mr. R
Although it's a out science, it's true,I'm talking about respiration and photosynthesis(synthesis is in it!) Without plants we couldn't live and without us plants couldn't live. Without photosynthesis there would be no oxygen for us to breathe and without carbon dioxide the plants couldn't make oxygen through photosynthesis.
ReplyDeletePhotosynthesis is synthesis (you can tell because of the name) because carbon dioxide and water combine to form sugars and oxygen.
ReplyDeleteWhen you read a couple different books to come up with a thesis to write. This is an example of synthesis because without all the books, your end product (the thesis) wouldn't exist.
ReplyDeleteAmong other things, synthesis is key in life. But not just in life, but in, say, the ingredients for a cake! The flour, sugar, butter...etc. are mixed together to form a hole new substance. They add together to equal something else
ReplyDeletecarter- an example of synthesis in real life is yeast water and flower making dough ."". ."",

The sun does a form of synthesis when it takes two atoms on hydrogen to make a helium. It fuses 620 metric tons of hydrogen each second.
ReplyDeleteI personally do a lot of cooking and if you have the perfect amount of everything or else the food won't taste good.
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis is if you hit a home run in baseball without the ball or the bat there would be no home run.
ReplyDeletean example of synthesis in real life is yeast water and flower making dough
ReplyDeleteAn example of a synthesis is, if you take a sunflower seed and put it in soil with some water you will eventually get a sunflower plant.
ReplyDeleteseed + soil + water = plant
An example of synthesis is two sources mixed together like mixing paint to make a new color!
ReplyDeletean example of synthesis is in nature how plants produce oxygen for us to survive and we produce carbon dioxide so in addition to a synthesis this is also an example of interdependence (yes, this is an example from science today
ReplyDeleteMatthew Atwell
ReplyDeleteFusing hydrogen to make helium is an example of synthesis. This is when the sun combines with the large amount of gravity to make helium and energy which heats the planet.
A lighter/match plus a candle makes a burning candle.
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis in nature is photosynthesis because in photosynthesis 6 carbon dioxide + 6 water + light -----> gluten + 6 oxygen.
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis is a court case the judge has to hear both sides before he can make the decision guilty or not guilty.
ReplyDeleteAn example of real life synthesis is you need a government and people to run a country
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis is the parts that make up a car, the engine, the battery, the wheels, the parts under the hood, and many other parts.
ReplyDeleteSynthesis is everywhere. For example a song. You have the voice of the person singing and you also have instruments or music. Together, they equal a song,
ReplyDeleteto score a basket in basket you can't score with just a ball or basket you need those two things
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis is when you talk, air passes through your vocal cords. Therefore without the air, and without the vocal cords, no one would be able to talk.
ReplyDeleteAlso, when there is an election for a position of power, such as president, there needs to be candidates and voters for the event to be considered an election. Without one of those groups, it would either be a monarchy or an ungoverned land.
Not to get off topic, monarchies are also very good. A monarch still gives power to a small group of people. Some are even elected. Only some Emporers and Dictators have complete power. So your analogy applies to almost all governments.
Deleteseed + water + sunlight + CO2 = a tree
ReplyDeletethis is a form of synthesis because you begin with a seed and then through a process called photosynthesis a big leafy, tall, beautiful thing called a TREE!
A silly example is, when you take PB and jelly to make a sandwich!
ReplyDeleteA synthesis in my life is a battery and wire and clips and a a light bulb and a light switch makes a light bulb turn on.
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis is walking a dog. This is an example because without the leash you technically are not walking the dog. And without the human there is nobody to walk the dog. (this is not my original idea/story)
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, an example of synthesis is growing a plant. You give the plant water, soil, sunlight, and TLC, and it grows to become a plant and may even bear fruit or grow flowers.
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis is warm air from Mexico plus cold air from Canada equals a tornado. With just the warm air it would be rain, and with just the cold air it would be snow.
ReplyDelete(Pain + Struggle + Happiness + Choice + other small modifiers)*1,000,000 = experience
ReplyDeletePain = Loss + Injury - Hope
Struggle = Rejection + Fear (Very Very Very Optional) + Failure + Distrust
Happiness = Fun + Pride + Accomplishment + Love*2 + Relief + ethical determination
Choice = Input + Influence + Participation in Everything + Belief in free choice + Reaction
But what good is experience if you don't Enjoy life. I have been elaborating on the wrong formula. It should be:
Happiness = Fun + Pride + Accomplishment + Relief + Love*2 + (ethical determination*ethical observation intensity) - sadness
as I said earlier where;
Fun = Doing what you like + being challenged + Relaxing + (Popularity*Popularity Desire)
and
Pride = Pride of Accomplishment + (Other's knowledge of accomplishments*(100%-Boasting ethic Penalty)*Popularity Desire)
and
Accomplishment = (Completion of Goals*Goal Significance) + Doing what Loved one Wants + (Improving Ethics*Ethical Observation Intensity)
and
Relief = (Previous Struggle - Current Struggle) +
(Previous Pain - Current Pain) + (Current Choice - Previous choice)
and where
love is a mystery
and
sadness has many small modifiers but mainly revolves around FEAR (cough cough), Expectancy of Misfortune, the belief of self inefficiency and a lot more.
Please ask a lot of questions and debate in the comments.
Just to say I put in in: Synthesis.
Yes, debate on EVERYTHING.
DeleteAlso, Money is Time, not the other way around.
DeleteTechnically, if sadness revolves around expectancy of misfortune, then that means you are sad because you think you're going to be unfortunate. But say you are in a competition and you expect to be last, when you do better and get second to last or better you will be happy that you did better than you expected. Even if you did get last place you will be satisfied that you got what you expected. However, if you expect to be first at everything, and you do not get first you will be sad and disappointed. It's not expectancy of misfortune that makes you sad, it's when you have less fortune then you thought.
DeleteI understand your point; accomplishment is more worthy if one didn't expect to succeed. When I type" Expectancy of misfortune" I mean having failed so often that you have little will to try. It is true that FALSE expectancy of misfortune creates happiness, but not if you keep failing. 10 fails in a row is much more than 10 times harder on someone with just one fail. Also, guilt and embarrassment are two major sadness factors that are probably worse than expectancy of misfortune, but you do have a good point.
DeleteAn example of synthesis in the natural world is, seed + water = plant
ReplyDeleteOops, I forgot that you can't debate due to the approval system, so just ask questions or debate with me.
ReplyDeleteWell maybe I can, seeing that this came only two minutes after I published it.
DeleteOne example of synthesis in real life is, two have a child you would need a father and mother. If you did not have either of them you would not have a baby. Another example is when you have a pencil and paper. You need them both because if you did not have a pencil, what would you write with, and if you did not have a paper, what would you write on? Finally, the last example is when you have cold air and hot air.If you did not have cold air you would be super duper hot. If you do not have hot air you would freeze. :)
ReplyDeletehumans + machines = global warming. Since without humans there is no one to operate the machine. With no machines, there is no gas slowly destroying our planet.
ReplyDeleteThat is why all the animals will form a coalition against the humans and attack them to oppose animal abuse, litter, and pollution.
DeleteThe humans could also stop using machines. There are multiple ways to accomplish everything!
An example of synthesis is baking a cake
ReplyDeleteJake
I have two examples of synthesis: one pertains specifically to me, but possibly to others. First off, for me, an example of synthesis is writing a song: I can't write without all three of these things:inspiration, a pen, and a piece of notebook paper. For some, all that is required to write a song is pen and paper, but my standards are different.
ReplyDeleteLast off--you can't print something off of a computer without a printer, a piece of paper, and ink. If you are missing any on of these, whatever you are trying to print is not going to become a hard copy.
water+tea leaves+sugar=iced tea you cant have iced tea without water tea leaves and tea
ReplyDeleteOne example of synthesis is that you need pencils and paper to make a picture. Without paper you'd have nothing to draw on and without pencils, you'd have nothing to write with. Together they form something new.
ReplyDeleteAye, but what about quill on papyrus?
DeleteCan D + E + C as well?
Are there multiple ways to make the same result?
Fear+Love=Hope
ReplyDeleteWell my sister+ her phone= high phone bills ;))).(haha, sorry). If your being more serious... bad people+ fire arms=danger. But, good people+ fire arms= perfectly fine stuff (as long as their in a range).
ReplyDeleteimagination + materials + hard work + knowledge(sometimes)= anything.
ReplyDeleteWith imagination comes ideas. With those ideas you need to have things in which you can accomplish your ideas with. With materials and an idea all that's really needed is hard work to make this idea happen, but sometimes you need to know just a little bit more. Without imagination there is no idea but if there is an idea but no material there is nothing to do and even with an idea and the right materials, if no work is put into it nothing will be done.
What does "anything" mean? Does it mean anything done before or any anything? Can someone make working wings or is this limited to previously made grappling hooks and the like? Or does knowledge mean I know how to make wings? If you incorporated unlimited time into the equation, it might make some things easier, like a multi billion dollar project or something that takes centuries to build. (A bridge to the moon.) Good thinking. Anything with just some thinking, materials, work and knowledge is a good idea. (And a good use of synthesis.)
DeleteAn example of a synthesis is a piece wood plus heat creates a fire.
ReplyDeleteI believe that hard work and determination add up to success, at least in most cases. For me, it is a good example of synthesis that has been proven consistently throughout my young life.
ReplyDeleteAn example of synthesis is: Macaroni + cheese = macaroni and cheese.(YUMO) ;)
ReplyDeletebutter+sugar+water= frosting! (yum) butter+cake mix+eggs+water = cake! (also yum) Frosting wouldn't work without butter, sugar and water and cake wouldn't work without butter, cake mix, eggs and water. There may be other ingredients but my mom used cake mix to create my sister Emily's birthday cake, so that's what I'm using.
ReplyDeletebread+jelly+peanut butter= peanut butter and jelly sandwich
ReplyDeletewithout the bread you have peanut butter and jelly. with only peanut butter of jelly with the bread you have a jelly sandwich or a peanut butter sandwich so you need to put it all together to get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Strength+speed+precision+intelligence=baseball
ReplyDeleteExample of "Synthesis":
ReplyDeleteWater + Light = Rainbow
Fear + Firearms= Taliban
ReplyDelete-Abby
Human+Food=Yummy
ReplyDeleteBen Molnar
An example of synthesis is Honey+Bears=Winnie the pooh. Winner loves honey, and Winnie is a bear!
ReplyDeletewhen cooking, an egg, flour, sugar, and (other stuff)
ReplyDeletecreates a cake. another example is a bed, and a tired person, equals sleep
An example of synthesis could be a person + guitar = music
ReplyDeleteAn example of a synthesis is a seed planted in soil! It's a little bit simple but what the seed creates, a plant , is key to our existence. :)
ReplyDeleteFlour + Baking Powder + Salt + Sugar + Milk + Eggs + Butter= Pancakes

ReplyDeleteA scientifical example of synthesis is photosynthesis. Water + Carbon Dioxide + solar energy --> glucose (sugar) + oxygen.
Some examples are:
ReplyDeleteAccomplishment + self-confidence + joy = pride
H2 + O = Water (sorry that one was science!!)
Danger + caution + pain = fear
6CO2 + 6H2O = C6H12O6 + 6O2
Loss + Hopelessness + Confusion = Depression
ReplyDeleteWhen these three things are combined, the results can be drastic.
Pardon the shortosity of this comment :D
Bread+Cheese+Tomato Sauce+(Other Toppings if Appicable)=Pizza
ReplyDeleteSynthesis isn't exactly A + B = C, you see;
ReplyDeleteA = flour
B = water
C = bread before there was yeast.
If you subtract A from both sides...(MATH ALERT)
Water = bread - flour.
You can't take flour out of bread.
However you can take out the water via evaporation.
It isn't EXACTLY math, but it is as close as possible.
But Math Demands Exactness.
An example of synthesis is when we eat food and our body turns it into energy.
ReplyDeleteWell as everyone knows me+horses=jumping and the occasional hit ground(which is a fancy way of saying I fell off)
ReplyDeleteMarshmallows+graham cracker+ chocolate+ fire= s'mores
ReplyDelete-Colin Milliken
Food+America=Obesity
ReplyDeleteAn Example Of A Synthesis Is A+B=C. Another Is B+A=C.(Mind Blow ┃ ु ⠁⃘ ⠁⃘ू┃) Lastly Another Example Is Impossible Game + Inpatient Man = RAGE QUIT (ʘ෴̴͜ʘ).

ReplyDeleteA gun + a criminal= A house being robbed,
But a gun + A father = a criminal stopped + a safe family
A example of synthesis is- family+friends+joy+love=Happy life:)
ReplyDeletePC + Monitor = Computer System
ReplyDeleteBread + cheese = grilled cheese
ReplyDeleteWith out the bread it would be just cheese and with out cheese it would be just toast you have to synthesize the ingredients
In chorus class, we combine the baritones, altos, and sopranos along with the piano to make one big sound.
ReplyDeleteFor a plant to grow you need, water+sunlight+seed=healthy plant and without even one of these things, it wouldn't grow. So in all, you need to synthesize the ingredients.
ReplyDeleteSoccer Ball + Cleats + Field = Best Sport Ever
ReplyDeleteI am one soul with my own wants and needs, my horse also has a soul with his own wants a needs. Yet when we are together it's not just person on horse, it's when we become one and enjoy the ride.

An example of synthesis is inspiration + hope = Your future, when you have inspiration for your life you get this feeling of hope that once is complete you have your future.
